Reducing Early Leaving in VET

Reducing Early Leaving in VET

Project Description

This project addresses early school leaving and training, a critical challenge affecting the socio-economic stability of the European Union. The initiative focuses on identifying and mitigating the common factors driving this phenomenon, such as learning difficulties, lack of motivation and unfavourable socio-economic environments. By intervening in this process, the aim is to prevent young people from falling into cycles of unemployment, poverty and social exclusion, which are often perpetuated across generations. The project emphasises that employability is directly linked to educational attainment, proposing strategies for guidance and personalised support. In this way, not only is the professional future of students improved, but social cohesion and cultural participation in local communities are also strengthened. The ultimate objective is to reduce the youth unemployment rate and ensure that every student has the necessary tools to integrate successfully into the labour market and civil life.

Objectives

Implementation

The project is implemented through the definition and implementation of a structured monitoring and tutoring model in VET centres in several partner countries (Spain and international partners). Diagnostic and student monitoring instruments (surveys, questionnaires, assessment of risk indicators) are developed, which are applied continuously and allow for the early detection of students with academic, social or integration difficulties. Tutors, counsellors and teaching staff are trained in personalised support strategies, improving communication with students and mediation methods, to intervene with individualised action plans. Partners share experiences and transnational meetings and activities are held to compare data, refine the model and document it in a guide or manual of good practices on preventing early leaving in VET.
