WE ARE NOT DIFFERENT

Project Description

The project We Are Not Different arises from a transnational collaboration between four organisations from Romania, Spain, Latvia and Italy dedicated to adult education. The main objective of this cross-sectoral consortium is the creation of the WAND learning kit, a tool designed to combat school exclusion from the family sphere. This resource includes an e-learning platform, a specialised guide and a series of training videos focused on parental literacy. The initiative emerges as a response to the difficulties faced by educational centres in resolving the isolation of certain students, proposing that parents assume an active role in the communication and emotional support of their children. By focusing on social inclusion as a priority, the project seeks to expand personalised learning opportunities for adults with different qualification levels. Furthermore, it fosters the development of pedagogical competences in staff supporting adult learners to ensure high-quality care. Through this shared approach, the partners aim to mitigate the negative consequences of exclusion and strengthen the link between family education and school success.

Objectives

Implementation

The implementation of the project is based on the organisation of joint youth activities (workshops, exchanges, events and coexistence dynamics) in which young people with and without disabilities participate on an equal footing, accompanied by youth workers trained in inclusion and accessibility, who use non-formal education methodologies to address issues of stereotypes, prejudices and human rights; simultaneously, training actions for professionals and volunteers are developed, where tools for the planning and evaluation of inclusive activities are constructed, and experiences, good practices and teaching materials are documented and published in open format for use and replication by other European youth centres and organisations.

Expected Results

Greater participation and visibility of young people with disabilities in youth activities, with a greater perception of belonging and common belonging to the youth community.

Increased awareness and inclusive competence of youth workers, educators and volunteers towards diversity and accessibility.

A set of open pedagogical resources and materials (guides, dynamics, videos and planning tools) on inclusion and “non-discrimination” in the youth field.

Strengthening of transnational cooperation between youth organisations and disability entities to disseminate and replicate the “We Are Not Different” coexistence model.
