Developing Farmers’ Digital Skills
Developing Farmers’ Digital Skills
Project Description
“Developing Farmers’ Digital Skills” Erasmus+ KA2: Strategic Partnerships for Adult Education
The project is the result of a strong partnership with various European and Turkish organisations. The main objective is to provide farmers with digital knowledge that enables them to be part of contemporary technological trends linked to smartphones, computers and other tools. Farmers will discover how technology can be easy and useful for them and their businesses.
Objectives
- Increase the basic and transversal digital competences of farmers and rural producers, facilitating their access to new technologies, digital tools and online services.
- Improve the productivity, efficiency and competitiveness of agricultural holdings through the effective use of the internet, mobile applications and other digital resources in the professional and social sphere.
- Develop an innovative training methodology adapted to the rural context, focused on adults and on practical and accessible learning.
- Strengthen the digital citizenship of farmers, promoting safe, critical and active use of technologies in their personal, community and business lives.
Implementation
The implementation of the project is based on the creation and application of a pilot digital skills course for farmers, designed and pilot-tested by a European consortium (agriculture, NGOs, training and digital companies), which combines face-to-face and online training on the use of computers, smartphones, the internet, agricultural management tools and digital communications. Farmer participants work with practical modules and real activities (email, social networks, market platforms, management applications) while 20–30 trainers are trained in the same methodology, so that they can replicate the course in their regions. The entire process is completed with the construction of the Digifarmer platform (digifarmer.net), where the materials, the course and the open resources for trainers and farmers are hosted, facilitating the dissemination and sustainability of the model in different countries.
Expected Results
Measurable increase in the digital competences of participating farmers, with greater capacity to use digital tools in their work and daily life.
Improved productivity and efficiency in rural holdings thanks to more effective use of the internet, applications and management tools.
Availability of a structured and certifiable training course on digital skills for farmers, accessible online and adaptable to different rural contexts.
Dissemination of open training materials and methodology for trainers and entities in the agricultural sector, favouring the replication of the model in Europe.
