Media and information literacy in adult education

Media and information literacy in adult education

Project Description

The general objective of the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership project is to exchange good practices and test innovative methods in media and information literacy. This will increase the ability to think critically about the content people receive through social networks. The partnership aims to increase users’ awareness of the truthfulness of online content and, at the same time, promote more responsible use of the Internet.

Objectives

Implementation

The implementation of the project is based on the creation of a course and a set of training resources in media and information literacy aimed at adults and their trainers, which are developed through a needs analysis and good practices in several partner countries, the definition of key modules (media use, social networks, disinformation, privacy, civic participation) and their implementation in face-to-face and online training workshops and sessions; adult participants work on real scenarios of media content consumption and production, while trainers receive specific training in participatory methodologies, digital resources and strategies for assessing MIL competences, documenting experiences and results that are collected in a pedagogical guide and a repository of open materials for use and replication in other European adult education contexts.

Expected Results

Greater critical capacity of adults to select, understand and evaluate information from media and digital platforms, reducing the risks of disinformation and cyberbullying.

A significant number of trainers and adult education professionals trained in MIL, with tools and methodologies to address these contents in their groups.

Availability of a structured course and open resources (guides, teaching materials, exercises and case studies) on media and information literacy for adult education.

Strengthening of transnational cooperation between adult education organisations for the dissemination and continuous improvement of MIL teaching.
