PLANT
Professional Learning and Agrifood Network for Training
Project Description
The project aims to transform vocational education and training systems in the agrifood sector of Kenya, Uganda, Italy, and Spain by modernizing curricula, integrating digital tools, and fostering public-private partnerships oriented toward labor market demand.
Objectives
- General Objective: To transform agrifood Vocational Education and Training (VET) systems in Italy, Spain, Kenya, and Uganda by modernizing curricula, integrating digital technologies, and fostering public-private partnerships.
- Specific Objectives: To improve the agrifood, pedagogical, and digital competencies of VET teachers and providers to offer training adapted to the current labor market. To strengthen synergies and cooperation networks between VET centers and the private/business agrifood sector through sustainable collaboration tools, and to foster policy dialogue between VET centers, sector enterprises, and National Authorities to influence educational policy reform and ensure the sustainability of the model.
Implementation
Project implementation will take place over 36 months through a structured approach across 5 work packages, including the capacity building of VET teachers through virtual training and the publication of a manual on innovative educational methodologies and digital innovations (WP2).
It also includes the establishment of VET center networks, holding meetings with sector enterprises, and an international workshop in Uganda (WP3), alongside updating agrifood curricula and carrying out student internship programs (WP4). To disseminate its results and influence public policies, PLANT organizes roundtables with local authorities, dissemination events, and a Transnational Final Event in Palermo (WP5).
Expected Results
The project aims to achieve the training of 120 vocational education teachers in advanced digital and pedagogical competencies applied to the agrifood sector, which will indirectly impact more than 9,500 students through the delivery of modernized curricula integrating digital and climate-smart agriculture.
Likewise, it is expected to engage 40 sector companies and sign four cooperation protocols, allowing 120 students to enter internship programs with 70% female participation.
Finally, four national networks of training centers will be consolidated and four action plans will be signed with national educational authorities based on strategic recommendations, ensuring sustainability, public-private dialogue, and the long-term alignment of educational provision with labor market needs.
